Developing
learning through sport and leisure...
Sportsvine Limited are delighted to announce that we have recently joined Tribal Group Plc. This is a very significant leap forward for Sportsvine and the level of service we offer our customers. Tribal Group is a leading UK provider of professional support and consultancy services, with a number one position in several of their markets. They have a very strong presence in the area of distance learning, they are able to draw upon over 20 years of experience.
A additional benefit of becoming a part of the Tribal Group is we have developed a very close relationship with Network Publishing. Network Publishing are also part of Tribal Group Plc, publishing high quality materials for further education. To maximise the potential of this closer working relationship Sportsvine have relocated to the same offices in York.
Brief history: Sportsvine Limited was incorporated in 1997 as a sports marketing agency
working with various sports brands that included Premier and Nationwide
League Football Clubs, County Cricket Clubs, professional Rugby Union
and Rugby League Clubs.
In
1999 Sportsvine expanded into the education sector with the launch of
the Sport for Life scheme (Foundation Studies in Exercise Certificate)
in association with York College and Leeds United Football Club. The distance
learning programme was so successful the college was awarded a Beacon
Award for Widening Participation.
Over the following two years the same
scheme was rolled out with numerous brands and partner colleges throughout
England and Scotland. Brands that were involved included: Arsenal FC,
Liverpool FC, Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers, Manchester City FC, Aston
Villa, Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos and many more. |

In
2001 the scheme was re-launched through leisure centres under the Health
for Life brand and in 2003-4 the qualification gained a listed status
on the NQF under code 1002380X - The Certificate in Exercise. The course
continues to be the flagship brand for the company with excellent course
content and high quality learning materials. It is a popular choice for
many FE Colleges as an additional course for full time students or as
a distance learning course for part time students.
In
January 2004, Sportsvine launched a new interactive Basic Skills
Initial Assessment CD-ROM, Football Basics. This new venture was
arguably the first conceptualised assessment tool to be released
and has since proved an extremely useful aid to many FE Colleges
and Training Providers in engaging hard to reach learners with Basic
Skills needs.
From 2005,
further learning materials have been added to the Health for
Life family. This has included:
- Conceptualised core and wider key skills portfolios
- Sport version of Certificate in Exercise
- Level 2 Certificate in Improving Exercise and Nutrition
The product range has expanded further during 2007 to include certificate and NVQ materials for Event Stewards and Well at College, a new online learning environment providing tutorial and enrichment materials for full time students. This new venture has been a collaboration with other Tribal companies.
